Arsenault to Teach Program at LSU Law TodayArsenault to Teach Program at LSU Law Today

LSU Law

Neblett, Beard & Arsenault’s senior and founding partner, Richard J. Arsenault, will be presenting ” Illnesses With Long Latency Period” at the Litigation & Liability in the Workplace Continuing Legal Education program at LSU Law.

The program will investigate the legal issues related to handling an on-the-job injury or employment cases. The ever-changing interrelationship between workers’ compensation and tort law and the overlap of new state and federal laws related to Medicare and Medicaid create new and challenging issues for the attorney handling either side of employment-related cases.

Arsenault is a frequent chairman and speaker at state, local and national legal seminars and is alumni of LSU Law.

US Government Bans Sale and Resale of Dangerous Drop-Side CribsUS Government Bans Sale and Resale of Dangerous Drop-Side Cribs

Dangerous Drop-Side Cribs

Kudos to the U.S. CPSC for banning the sale, resale and manufacture of all drop-side cribs in the United States. Since 2000, 30 infants and toddlers have died as a result of these dangerous cribs, and this action will help prevent additional children from this cruel fate. Beginning today, all cribs sold in the U.S. must meet new, rigorous safety standards.

Most manufacturers have already gotten on board and are providing U.S. families with new and improved safety designs. However, no one knows exactly how many drop-side cribs are still out there. Since 2007, over 11 million of these types of cribs have been recalled due to their potential danger, but countless babies may still be at risk because of the use of second-hand or hand-me-down cribs with drop-sides. If you have questions or concerns, check out the CPSC website for questions and answers about crib safety.

At Neblett, Beard & Arsenault, we have seen first-hand the devastation, pain and destruction that these cribs can inflict on a family. Please help spread the word about the realities of drop-side cribs and encourage friends and family to make informed decisions when purchasing a new crib.

Maritime Conference

Attorney Richard J. Arsenault, senior partner at Neblett, Beard & Arsenault, chaired the Louisiana State Bar Association’s 17th Admiralty Symposium today in New Orleans. Arsenault has organized the event since its inception.

This year’s schedule featured federal judges, professors, attorneys and engineers from across the country speaking on laws governing maritime activities, including Neblett, Beard & Arsenault’s Attorney Wes Gralapp, who addressed governmental claims.

Arsenault was chosen by the Louisiana State Bar Association to lead the event because of his extensive knowledge and experience in maritime law and complex litigation. He is also heavily involved with the on-going litigation stemming from the tragic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. This year, Arsenault has chaired the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Gulf Coast Oil Spill Symposium, the Harris Martin Publishing Gulf Coast Oil Spill Symposium and was named Co-chair of the American Association for Justice’s Gulf Coast Oil Spill Litigation Group.

The Wall Street Journal has called Arsenault’s seminars the “must attend” legal events, and his expertise has been featured by The New York Times, CBS, Business Week, NPR and other major media outlets.
