This was reported on the front page of our local newspaper. It seems that the big giant retailer just got a little bigger. When is Walmart going to come to the realization that enough is enough? While I am a firm believer that competition is a good thing, I also believe that a monopoly can be a bad thing.
Federal law requires funeral homes to accept third-party caskets while Louisiana law prevents the retail sale of caskets. This does not prohibit Louisiana residents from buying their caskets online or in another state. Now, you can go to Walmart and buy a casket on- line and have it delivered to your door. This makes me wonder what Walmart is going to sell next.
