Fatal Accident Underscores Need to Wear Seatbelts

Seat-BeltThree people tragically lost their lives on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in western Louisiana. One driver, for unknown reasons, crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head on. None of the three who died from the impact were wearing seat belts. So far in 2009, Louisiana Troop E has investigated 57 fatal crashes resulting in 68 fatalities. Of the 57 fatal car crashes, 36 involved unrestrained motorists.

The irony is that Louisiana just enacted tougher seat belt laws which require all passengers, both front and back, as well as the driver to be belted. Time after time, sad story after sad story, the importance of learning the value of wearing a seat belt has come too late for too many.
