Presently there are no tests to detect Mesothelioma in its early stages. Very invasive biopsies now detect Mesothelioma in later stages sometimes too late for effective treatment. Researches from New York University School of Medicine and Wayne State University have isolated a molecule found in blood that shows a potential for Mesothelioma. The level of the molecule in blood rises in the early stages of Mesothelioma.
Mesothelioma is a deadly form of cancer that responds more favorable to treatment in the early stages of the disease. This new discovery can lead to blood tests which can predict potential Mesothelioma victims. Monitoring of potential victims showing high levels of the molecule would lead to early detection and treatment.
