Shreveport, Louisiana residents had to endure tied up traffic along I-220. Police say an 18-wheeler flipped over where crews were working on a bridge. Initial reports from the scene indicated the over-turned truck was from Haliburton and leaking some kind of liquid into a drainage ditch.
As a result, authorities will be closing the entrance ramp from North Market onto I-220, westbound. The question remains, why did the 18-wheeler flip?
The truck driver is responsible for this load. Abrupt turns or stops can cause the load to shift. Speed should be reduced in a construction zone and for traffic conditions. How long had the truck driver been driving and was he violating the hours of service rule?
