Two people were killed early Wednesday afternoon in a head-on collision around Lafayette, Louisiana. The crash occured when an 18-wheeler crossed the center line colliding with a refrigeration truck on the Youngsville Highway near Fortune Road.
The 18-wheeler, which was on Youngsville Highway headed toward Pinhook Road, crossed the center line striking the refrigeration truck. Two occupants in the refrigeration truck were pounced dead at the scene. An investigation continues.
Our question is simple: why did the truck veer into the other lane of travel? FMCSA regulations require the 18-wheeler to be drug/alcohol tested. Moreover, had the 18-wheeler driver been driving too long? Police deployed their accident reconstruction team to further investigate.
