Many people injured on the job who are receiving workers’ comp benefits are unaware that they can be reimbursed for mileage. Usually, the workers’ comp insurance company do not tell injured workers about this reimbursement. At the present time, this reimbursement is .52 cents per mile. Injured workers can submit their mileage to the doctors’ office, the pharmacy, and even for meetings with the vocational rehab counselor. After you submit the mileage the workers’ comp insurer has sixty (60) days to reimburse you. If they do not reimburse you within this time period, you could be entitled to additionally penalties.
Just remember to submit your mileage and make sure that it is absolutely correct. One of the easiest ways that a workers’ comp insurer can suspend and/or stop benefits is if they catch an injured worker submitting the incorrect mileage.
