Recalls: Undeclared Food Allergens

bad-supperLast week saw a slew of food recalls due to undeclared food allergens. Here’s the list, compiled from alerts from the FDA, USDA, and CFIA

Tofutti Brands, Inc., has recalled twelve pallets of 8-Pack VANILLA CUTIES mini sandwich frozen dessert novelties (UPC 0-20188-01301-2) due to possible trace level milk contamination reported for a limited number of lots shipped which were produced in July of 2008.

Wayne Provision Co. has recalled approximately 2,075 pounds of frozen pork sausage products because they may contain undeclared allergens, hydrolyzed soy and whey. This recall includes:

  • 5-pound bags of 1.6-ounce bulk links of “BREAKFAST SAUSAGE.”
  • 5-pound bags of bulk “BREAKFAST SAUSAGE.”

Each label bears the establishment number “EST. 4187″ inside the USDA mark of inspection. There are no package or case codes. The frozen pork sausage products were produced between August 2008 and April 2009, and were shipped to restaurants in southern California and the Las Vegas, Nev., area.

Amigo’s Mexican Food, Inc., is recalling approximately 4,594 pounds of red pork tamale products because they may contain an undeclared allergen, wheat. This recall includes:

  • 35-ounce vacuum packages of “AMIGO’S Home Style PORK Tamales Wrapped in Corn Husk.” Each label bears the establishment number “EST. 13083″ inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The red pork tamale products were produced on various dates and were shipped to retail establishments in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas.

Parmalat Canada, Inc., has recalled certain Sensational Soy Smooth Original and Sensational Soy Classic Vanilla products that may contain undeclared milk proteins. See the CFIA’s allergy alert for specific UPC codes and Best Before Dates.

Rocky Mountain Grain Products has recalled certain “More than a Square Meal” bars with raisins because they may contain undeclared sulphites. See the CFIA’s allergy alert for more details.
