The British Journal of Cancer suggests that one of every 17 baby boom carpenters will die as a result of Mesothelioma. The study examined information on Mesothelioma patients as well as healthy individuals in various occupations including carpenters, electricians, and plumbers.
The earlier the diagnosis of Mesothelioma, the more effective the treatment is in slowing the progress of the cancer and relieving the symptoms. However, there is presently no cure.
Carpenter unions and trade associations should take the lead and get this information out to there members so that tests can be done and treatment can be started early.
