Food Safety and the Economic Crisis: Not Mutually Exclusive

We’ve talked about how the economy seems to often trump the attention needed on other pressing problems. As it turns out, the food safety crisis we currently face is both a problem for the victims of these epidemics and also an economic problem.

As personal injury lawyer, our firm focuses on the injuries caused to and damages sustained by the victims of food contamination. However, there is also a tremendous financial loss associated with recalls which can include tracking down literally millions of products, retrieving them, and transporting them away from unsuspecting consumers. Then, presumably the product needs to destroyed and carted off for final disposal. There are also huge lost sales revenue.

So, to the extent this is both a safety and health issue, along with an economic problem, that should justify the legislators that focus myopically on our economic problems to give this some attention as well.
