Nacogdoches is the latest venue involving an 18 wheeler and a motorcycle resulting in the death of the motorcycle driver. Police say the driver of the 18 wheeler pulled into the path of the motorcycle. The 18 wheeler, a tractor/box trailer occupied the travel lane of the motorcycle, resulting in the driver of the motorcycle being pinned under the trailer for several minutes. He was transported to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
It is not an uncommon occurrence for an 18 wheeler to pull out in front of a vehicle that has the right of way. I assume these 18 wheeler drivers believe that they are so large that the passenger vehicle should stop or suffer the consequences. When a trucking company’s driver is negligent, a large lawsuit verdict should get their attention to institute and maintain safe driving and preventable accident techniques to the company drivers.
