Researchers at Ohio State University are using atomic force under microscopes to study how asbestos causes the deadly disease Mesothelioma. With a fifty year latency period Mesothelioma can show up so late treatments are ineffective. If researchers can determine how the disease is caused maybe it will lead to earlier detection and more effective treatments. Programs such as these are invaluable and I applaud Ohio State and hope more Universities follow suit.
