The Coast Guard has called off the search for two missing men who disappeared after the helicopter they were traveling in crashed into the Gulf of Mexico, killing three others aboard.
The Coast Guard was notified of the accident by Rotorcraft Leasing Co., a helicopter leasing company in Broussard, La., when one of its pilot had not checked in as scheduled.
A summary search of the NTSB website reveals multiple crashes attributed to Rotorcraft Leasing Co. within the last few years. Some are now raising concerns about the company’s dedication to safety. An insider of the oil industry referred to the company as “Rotorcrash” on a news website that reported the accident, claiming the oilworkers have a less favorable view of the company.
The FAA will continue to investigate the cause of the accident. Information about the causes of aviation accidents can be found at the NTSB website.
