Airline Highway is open again this morning after a northbound tractor trailer became wedged under the Interstate 12 overpass yesterday afternoon. The wreck slowed traffic for hours, virtually shutting down travel and commerce in the area.
Sgt. Don Kelly of the Baton Rouge Police Department said the driver’s load was “obviously taller than the overpass.” The driver was hauling a part of a building from Houma to Alabama, and was not permitted to move through the city. He was cited for an oversized load that required an escort.
