Drug Recall Round-up

 

Yesterday was a busy day for pharmaceutical companies. Johnson & Johnson- Merck Pharmaceuticals Company announced the urgent recall of 12,000 units of Infants’ MYLICON(R) GAS RELIEF DYE FREE drops (simethicone-antigas) non-staining sold in 1 oz. The products may be tainted with metal shards. The products were distributed nationwide after October 5, 2008. Lot numbers include:

Consumers who purchased these products should immediately discontinue use, and can contact the company at 1-800-222-9435 (Monday — Friday, 8:00 a.m. — 8:00 p.m. EST) or via the internet at http://www.mylicon.com for instructions regarding how to dispose of the product and request a replacement or refund.

In other recall news, ETHEX Corporation announced the recall of five generic /non-branded products including Propafenone HCl, Isosorbide Mononitrate, Morphine sulfate and Dextroamphetamine Sulfate because the tablets were oversized. Overdosing on these medication can lead to life-threatening events such as arrhythmias (irregular heartbeat) and low blood pressure. All of the products were distributed prior to May 22, 2008.
