UPDATE: Both lanes have re-opened to traffic. Police have given the trucker two citations for improper equipment.
A tractor trailer has split in half on I-10W, blocking the the center and right lanes on the Mississippi River bridge.
The traffic backup had reached Bluebonnet on I-10 and the I-10/I12 split on I-12. Police say the size and weight of the trucker’s load, 43,000 pounds of wood and metal pallets, caused the rig to buckle.
This is the third wreck involving an 18-wheeler on I-10 in the past four days.
