Two women and 5 men were injured when the boat they were traveling on hit a concrete piling of the Bay St. Louis Bridge and sank.
An off-duty police chief happened to be fishing nearby, and took the 7 aboard his own boat near the Harrison County part of the span.
6 of the 7 were treated and released from the Memorial Hospital in Gulfport; however, the 7th member of the party was life flighted to another facility. Most suffered neck and back injuries.
6 of the victims are from Louisiana, the other is Harrison County, MS.
