Smashed vehicles and twisted metal were left in the wake of an 18-wheeler who failed to stop for slowed morning traffic at the I-10/I-110 split in Baton Rouge yesterday morning.
A witness at the scene told police, “the traffic was slowing down and we were behind this big truck. While the other cars slowed down, it changed lanes and ran into the back of two cars.”
One of the vehicles was struck and then thrown into the air by the Big Rig. Another vehicle, a Nissan Versa, was pinned up against the median rail, its driver was trapped inside.
Luckily, a nearby ambulance rushed to the wreck to administer medical treatment. None of the injuries seemed life-threatening, despite the grisly scene
“You have to question the speed of the big rig for morning rush hour traffic,” said David Walker, a Neblett, Beard & Arsenault attorney who represents victims of tractor-trailer crashes.
